IIP Insurance Agency's history dates back to 1900, when one of its original carrier relationships was established with Hartford. The agency took its modern form in 1967 when John McGrath and his partners purchased the business, beginning a new chapter of local ownership. In 1995, John's son, Pete McGrath, and his lifelong friend, Jay Bottarini, returned to their hometown of Ottawa to purchase the agency, modernize its operations, and continue building on its legacy through growth and local acquisitions. IIP Insurance Agency joined WalkerHughes in 2026, continuing more than a century of serving the Ottawa community.
